Gearing Up this Semester

Hey Everyone,
We are getting ready to start up all of our Cry Africa projects this semester. Come to Chi Alpha this Thursday night at 7pm in the basement of Reese Hall to see what Cry Africa is all about and what you can do to help out.
We will be setting up the Cry Africa table on campus to take donations from students and also planning a huge bake sale. We are also beginning work on the thrid annual March for Africa and need volunteers to help put that into place!

Hey Everyone,
We will be kicking off Cry Africa soon for 2007. Please feel free to post in comments any new ideas you might have for fund raisers and events to get the word out and raise money to help fight AIDS in Africa. Also, if you are interested in helping to plan next fall's March for Africa let me know because we are going to start gathering up sponsors and initial planning this January! God bless!

March for Africa is Comming Up Soon!

Hey Everyone,

The deadline is now passed for early registration for the March for Africa. All registration is now $25.00, however, if you are planning to register and haven't yet, please do soon so that we can ensure that you get a t-shirt.

If anyone would like more information about the March or is interested in volunteer opportunities please email marchforafrica@hotmail.com for more information.

March for Africa Event Schedule:
8:00am- Participant Check-in and Late Registration
9:00am- Runners head out
9:10am- Walkers line up and head out
11:00am- Closing and Thanks
11:15- Breakfast

If you are not planning to register until the day of the event, please be sure to show up before 9:00am so that you have plenty of time to Register before the event starts.

Cry Africa Donations at This Week's Table

This week we raised $46 and some change at the Cry Africa table just taking up donations. Next week we will be out there doing the same and selling our Cry Africa wristbands in the Humanities Pedestrian Walk-way on Monday from 2-4pm. Please stop in to help out or just come by to show your support. We're on our way! Thanks to everyone who helped out!

March for Africa Registration Now Open!

The time has come to begin registration for the March for Africa. Stop by the back table at Chi Alpha for a registration form or email fool4theLord7550@hotmail.com to have one sent to you. Just print it out and send it to our P.O. Box! The cost to participate is only $20 until October 12th!

Going to Watch Invisible Children

Monday, August 30th, we are going to watch Invisible Children at a church on Lovell Road. We will meet at 6pm at the Presidential ATM on campus and ride together. Come and see what its all about!

The second annual March for Africa will be held this fall on November 11th. The event will consist of a 5k walk/ 5k run on the University of Tennessee campus. The cost of registration for the even is $20.00 and all participants are asked to send out 10 support letters each to friends and family members, a t-shirt will be included in the registration cost. The March for Africa with benefit Cry Africa through the funds raised and will also spread awareness for Invisible Children. For more information about the even or to register, please email fool4theLord7550@hotmail.com. Support letters and information on how to send them will be give upon registration.
The event will be held November 11th in Humanities Plaza at the University of Tennessee. The event will begin at 8:00 am. Day of the March, registration will begin at 7:00 am and will go up to $25.00.

The Change Has Been Counted...

...and it is soon being sent in to the Tennessee Speed the Light Headquarters. We need everyone to be thinking about the pledges you made and ways to raise that money over the summer. In the fall we will also be having our annual Cry Africa Walk-a-thon, so keep people informed about it and they can be ready to support the cause. We raised over 5,000 dollars last year and we have not yet broke 500 for this year. Lets get going with new fund raising ideas and take down AIDS in Africa. With your help we can do this!

Hey everyone, over the summer remember to ask your parents and churches if they would also like to give to Cry Africa to help fight the AIDS epidemic. We have plenty of flyers, brochures and handouts if anyone needs them just let Chuck, Matt or Jacki know! Thanks for all your hard work this semester with Cry Africa!

Cry Africa is an organization sponsored by the national organization Speed the Light. It is working to bring AIDS relief to Africa. It is our hope to send a vehincle from our campus packed with medical supplies, information about how to stop the spead of AIDS, and information about Jesus Christ into Africa. This vehicle will be able to travel to the villiages of Africa where normal cars cannot yet reach. Last year students from the University of Tennessee raised over 7,000 dollars for Cry Africa.
